Diocese of Joliet Catholic Elementary Schools in Naperville, IL, seeks a part-time Instructional Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year to support Early Childhood instruction at St. Raphael.

The role involves assisting licensed staff, reinforcing learning across core subjects, and supporting At-Home Learning via Seesaw and Google Classroom. Candidates may hold related licenses or a teaching degree; primary focus is assisting with student needs and classroom operations.

Qualifications

• A current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL), Illinois Substitute License, or ELS(PARA) is preferred, but not required.
• Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a positive role model of the Catholic faith in classroom and beyond.
• Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, religion, mathematics, and computer instruction.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement programs.
• Assist professional staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises and tests.
• Assist in classroom preparations and developing strategies for reinforcing instructional materials.
• Assist with record-keeping to document student learning and performance.
• Help manage classroom behavior to maintain a safe environment and keep students on task.
• Support non-instructional activities such as lunch, bus, playground, and hallway duties.
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Create and distribute educational materials as directed by the teacher.
• Assist students with special needs to maximize inclusion and ISP/IEP objectives.
• Assist teachers with At-Home Learning lessons using Seesaw/Google Classroom or other platforms.
• Follow safety rules and protect confidentiality of students and staff.
