Qualifications

• High school diploma required for Teacher Assistant; associate degree in Child Development for Associate Teacher.
• Minimum age of 19 years old.
• Within 2 years, obtain Illinois Gateway ECE Credential Level 1 or CDA or Gateway Level 3.
• Experience with children Birth–Five preferred.
• Background clearance, physical, and TB test required.
• Reliable transportation with liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher to maintain a safe, healthy classroom aligned with Head Start Performance Standards.
• Collaborate with classroom staff to implement Creative Curriculum and child-centered activities.
• Prepare materials for daily activities and assist with lesson plans.
• Co-facilitate meal service and promote positive social interactions.
• Document observations for child outcome assessments and plan parent engagement activities.
• Participate in home visits and parent/teacher conferences.
