Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist I for its Inpatient Pharmacy in Akron, OH. This part-time role (0.4 FTE) covers centralized and decentralized services, focusing on medication safety, stewardship, and pharmacotherapy optimization.

You will collaborate with physicians and nurses, dispense medications per policy, and mentor pharmacy students while supporting quality improvement initiatives. A BS Pharm/PharmD and Ohio license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college.
• Current license by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy is required.
• Driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain insurability as determined by ACH.
• Completion of PGY1 residency or equivalent years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review, verify, and dispense medications in accordance with hospital policies and clinical best practices.
• Promote cost-effective medication use through formulary management and stewardship initiatives.
• Provide pharmacy services in centralized and decentralized areas as assigned.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other health professionals to optimize therapy outcomes.
• Provide drug information and pharmacotherapy recommendations to staff and patients.
• Document interventions in EMR and pharmacy systems.
• Participate in medication safety, quality improvement, and regulatory initiatives.
• Precept students/residents/new staff as assigned.
• Monitor therapy for appropriateness, dosing, duration, and interventions.
• Other duties as required.
