Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist II to provide advanced pharmacotherapy and participate in daily rounds, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and the care team to optimize medication therapy for high-acuity patients.

This full-time, onsite role includes a $10,000 sign-on bonus, opportunities in antimicrobial stewardship, anticoagulation management, and protocol-driven patient care, with mentorship for residents and students and involvement in quality improvement

Qualifications

• Pharmacy license in Ohio required.
• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited college.
• Experience in hospital pharmacy, pediatrics preferred.
• Postgraduate year 1 residency (PGY1) required; PGY2 preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in daily rounds and provide evidence-based pharmacotherapy recommendations.
• Promote cost-effective medication use and formulary management.
• Independently manage complex therapies including antimicrobial stewardship and anticoagulation.
• Initiate and monitor therapy under collaborative practice agreements.
• Educate pharmacists, residents, students, physicians, and nurses.
• Develop and maintain clinical protocols and order sets.
• Support quality improvement, formulary management, and medication-use evaluation.
• Precept students and residents with timely feedback.
• Document interventions and pharmacokinetic consults in the EMR.
• Lead departmental clinical initiatives and regulatory readiness.
• Review and dispense medications per policies and regulations.
• Perform other duties as required.
