Job summary

John Deere is seeking a Part Time Student - Industrial Engineer for Waterloo Works Drivetrain in Waterloo, IA. You will assist with sequence of events documentation, wage planning data, and lean manufacturing projects while balancing school commitments.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering program, can work 16–20 hours during the year and 30–40 hours in summer, and commute daily to the site. Strong Excel/Outlook skills and communication are valued.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree, ideally in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or any additional technical and relevant degrees may apply.
• Ability to work 16-20 hours during the academic year.
• Ability to work 30-40 hours during the summer semester.
• Must be registered as a full‑time student at a U.S. local accredited college/university.
• Graduation date of May 2028 or later.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
• Must be able to commute to the work location in Waterloo, Iowa, on a daily basis year‑round.
• Experience with Microsoft Office software including Outlook and Excel.
• Demonstrated good written and verbal (English) communication skills.
• Ability to work in cross‑functional groups and a team environment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the creation and management of sequence of events documentation including output standards.
• Work with electronic tools to perform engineering functions including methods change tracking and reports.
• Develop plans of limited scope to support lean manufacturing.
• Participate in implementation of new manufacturing processes and technology.
