Job summary

Blackhawk Technical College is seeking a part-time instructor to teach in the Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technology program. Courses will be delivered in the Blackboard LMS within a lab setting to prepare students for careers in the field.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in HVAC/R Technology or equivalent mix of education and work experience.
• Minimum two years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience in target HVAC/R role, with at least one year (2,000 hours) within five years prior to appointment.
• One year of related teaching experience may be waived if the instructor has two years of post-secondary teaching within five years.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction for assigned classes.
• Remain current with industry needs and assure graduate outcomes that meet workplace expectations.
• Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine instruction effectiveness.
• Create a classroom/lab environment respectful of diversity and multiculturalism.
• Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administration.
• Refer students to Student Services and collaborate with Academic Support staff.
• Stay current on teaching developments and use latest supportive technology and delivery methods.
• Prepare and update course syllabi (BTC guidelines) for each course taught.
• Assist in enforcing college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
• Hold weekly office hours and fulfill other duties to meet needs of students, employers, and college.
