Job summary

The Indiana University Health Paoli Hospital is seeking a part-time Security Officer to patrol the campus, respond to safety incidents and uphold hospital rules on rotating shifts. This role focuses on keeping patients, staff and visitors safe and requires thorough incident reporting.

Responsibilities include rounds, de-escalation, collaboration with the Public Safety team and documenting investigations. A high school diploma, Indiana driver license, and completion of law enforcement training

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0–3 years of relevant experience.
• Current non-restricted Indiana Driver's License.
• Successful completion of Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Tier I or Tier II within 1 year.
• Must obtain NCIC/IDACS certification and access.
• No felony, domestic violence or violent misdemeanor convictions.
• Pass pre-employment background, drug screening and psychological exam.
• Working knowledge of computers and various software.
• License must not have been denied by final order or revoked.
• Not currently suspended or surrendered.

Responsibilities

• Conducts rounding and foot and vehicle patrols of IU Health properties.
• Responds to calls for service and enforces IU Health rules and policies.
• Provides direction to staff, guests and patients; de-escalates tense situations.
• Prevents safety incidents and investigates criminal activity and crashes as needed.
• Maintains records, logs and written reports; performs security screening as required.
• Creates a safe healthcare environment for staff, patients and guests.
