Waterfront Rescue Mission in Pensacola is seeking a part-time Counselor for our Recovery Program. The role provides holistic, biblically centered counseling designed to address root causes behind clients' life-dominating issues, under the direction of the Director of Recovery Programs.

Qualifications

• Christian Commitment: Must exemplify Christian ethics, honesty and character as detailed in biblical references.
• Education/Experience: Master’s degree in related field; or 5–10 years related experience with aBachelor’s in related field; or equivalent combination.
• Must have knowledge to research and present Christian material non-denominationally; effective presenter of scripture.
• Valid driver’s license and be insurable by WRM's carrier; pass Waterfront’s Background Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and collaborates with client to create a holistic growth plan.
• Monitors progress and quality of life through regular contact or meetings.
• Documents client progress as case notes weekly or per session.
• Counsels with Christian holistic viewpoint; addresses root causes with counseling team.
• Provides Biblical guidance to strengthen client independence from a controlled environment.
• Addresses labor market barriers and helps develop vocational/education transition plans.
• Facilitates outside services (Vocational Rehab, Education Programs, internships, training).
• Communicates goals with community resources and professionals; coordinates services.
• Supports aftercare planning and safe housing for smooth transition.
• Encourages active church participation in local church.
• Performs random drug screening as needed.','Serves as advocate for client (legal, medical, financial, health).
• Acts as mediator during conflicts and crises.
• Represents client as liaison/advocate when necessary.
• Develops and edits operating procedures and strategies.
• Some travel may be necessary for training and temporary duty.
• Other duties as assigned.
