Job summary

GMHC seeks a part-time Community Health Peer Ambassador to support HIV prevention in NYC communities most affected by HIV. You will promote sexual health awareness, PrEP/PEP information, and access to GMHC services while maintaining confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.

Under supervision, you will help with outreach at events, distribute health education materials, document activities, and assist participants in accessing HIV testing and prevention resources.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Community Health Worker with recruitment and promotion of Project POWER activities and events.
• Support outreach activities in community spaces, events, partner organizations, and other community-based settings.
• Engage individuals in conversations about health, HIV prevention, and GMHC services in a non-judgmental and culturally responsive manner.
• Serve as a relatable and trusted peer resource for community members.
• Help connect individuals to GMHC programs and care resources when appropriate.
