Job summary

Computer-Systems-Institute in Skokie, IL is seeking a part-time Healthcare: Billing & Coding Instructor to lead the Billing & Coding program, teach required courses, and help students achieve academic success. You will prepare lesson plans, deliver lectures, facilitate Project-Based Learning, evaluate progress with SAP reporting to the Academic Dean, and participate in campus in-services.

BS in healthcare with 2 years of billing/coding experience is required; certifications such as CPC/CCS/

Qualifications

• BS degree in healthcare or a related field.
• 2 years of recent billing and coding experience.
• Preferred healthcare industry certification in either CPC, CCS, CCSP, CCA, RHIT, or RHIA.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to 27.5 hours week.
• Prepare lesson plans for each class session.
• Deliver lectures and facilitate Project-Based Learning (PBL).
• Assist students in the learning process.
• Evaluate and monitor student progress through the use of various assessment tools.
• Keep necessary records to report SAP to the Academic Dean.
• Attend and participate in quarterly campus-wide instructor in-service meetings as required. Stay well-informed about the advancements in teaching by attending professional development activities outside of CSI.
• Prepare students for real-world job skills and certifications (when applicable).
• Actively contribute to program improvement through the use of committee involvement.
• Provide support through academic advising to ensure student growth and retention.
• Additional tasks as needed.
