Job summary

Western Slope Health Center in Placerville, CA is seeking a dependable Maintenance Assistant to help keep our facility safe, clean, and well-functioning. This part-time role offers $21.00 per hour and a schedule that fits part-time hours.

You will perform routine maintenance across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and grounds, report issues promptly, and coordinate with nursing staff to support residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Must possess, at minimum, a 10th-grade education.
• Experience in maintenance, facilities, healthcare, or related fields is helpful but may not be required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established procedures.
• Ability to communicate and interact tactfully with residents, families, visitors, coworkers, government representatives, and the general public.
• Ability to properly care for and maintain tools, supplies, equipment, and maintenance work areas.
• Willingness to learn new maintenance methods and practices.

Responsibilities

• Follow established maintenance schedules and daily work assignments.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the facility, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plastering, mechanical, and other maintenance tasks as directed.
• Maintain grounds, parking areas, driveways, walkways, and other exterior areas by cutting, trimming, sweeping, cleaning, and policing as needed.
• Replace burned-out light bulbs, including exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, and other fixtures.
• Clean windows, screens, and other areas as directed.
• Assist with servicing heating and cooling units/systems in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and facility procedures.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Report equipment malfunctions, breakdowns, accidents, and incidents to the supervisor promptly.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with nursing services when working in resident living areas.
• Maintain adequate maintenance supplies and notify the supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
• Ensure equipment is cleaned and properly stored after use.
• Follow all established safety precautions when using tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Assist coworkers with lifting and moving equipment, supplies, and other items as needed.
• Help maintain a comfortable, safe, and functional environment for residents.
