Job summary

Worcester State University in Worcester, MA is seeking a Health Ambassador RC11 to empower peers with health information in English and Spanish while linking youth to resources and affordable nutritious foods.

Under the Gambling Prevention Program Manager, ambassadors will use cultural insights to address barriers, navigate care systems, and promote wellness in diverse communities through field work and community education.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences, both in writing and verbally.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to positive youth development.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Alignment with the vision, mission, and values of the University.
  • Experience with health-related issues and diverse communities.

Responsibilities

  • Gather information and provide education in the community, as outlined in the scope and contract.
  • Support the alignment of the work with what exists in the community.
  • Provide the community with education on existing services.
  • Promote wellness programs for Latino and other marginalized families by participating in communication plans as outlined in the scope of service and contract.
  • Meet weekly with the Administrators and program team to coordinate staffing, participant needs and logistics.
  • Participate in required training, workshops, conferences or other aspects of professional development including funder-sponsored events.
  • Other duties as assigned, including supporting other staff and representing the organization upon assignments.
  • In person position with field activities.
