Job summary

The Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans is seeking a part-time Floater to support Head Start/Early Head Start centers under the Center Director. You will assist in classrooms, help with nutrition and custodial tasks, and foster a safe, engaging learning environment for young children.

Responsibilities include implementing Frog Street Curriculum and Head Start outcomes, aiding lesson planning, documenting progress, and coordinating with families.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of early childhood growth and development and best practices.
• Ability to communicate proficiently in English with children, families, staff and partners.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction and make mathematical computations.
• Ability to operate modern office equipment (computer, fax, scanner, copier).
• Knowledge of special needs of families and ways to communicate and assist them.
• Must be a mandated reporter for suspected child abuse or neglect.
• Ability to pass a physical exam and TB test yearly.

Responsibilities

• Manage classroom in alignment with Early Childhood Education practices.
• Prepare food in kitchen and assist family-style meals; modify menus for dietary needs.
• Perform custodial duties following cleaning schedules and regulations.
• Observe and document children's progress using appropriate assessment tools.
• Communicate effectively with families and community partners.
• Follow health, safety, and licensing requirements daily.
