Job summary

The Salvation Army in Salina, Kansas seeks a devoted part-time Music Instructor to lead corps music and arts programs, plan weekly lessons, and implement a structured curriculum for children and adults, focusing on theory, performance, and values.

You will coordinate Bravo recitals, prepare the corps for performances, encourage personal growth and teamwork, help organize community events, and guide campers in summer programs while upholding the mission and community outreach of the organization.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
• Experience: A minimum of two years’ music experience working with children/adults.
• Certifications/Licenses: None
• Skills/Abilities: Proficiency in music theory and primary instrument; strong leadership and organizational skills; team player; flexible and committed to The Salvation Army mission.

Responsibilities

• Lead music and other arts programs within the corps and plan weekly lesson curricula.
• Plan and attend Bravo recitals and prepare corps music programs for year-end Bravo concert.
• Encourage participants to develop musical abilities and self-esteem through goal setting and achievement.
• Organize musical performances and community activities to promote the Salvation Army mission.
• Support camper participation in summer camps and related music programs; perform all other assigned duties.
