Job summary

Lackawanna College in Scranton is seeking an Assistant Grant Writer to support the Grants Office with proposal development and submission to local, state, federal, and private funders. This part-time role works up to 20 hours per week, 50 weeks per year.

You will conduct prospect research, track proposals, and prepare grant materials while coordinating with multiple college departments to ensure timely, accurate funder communications.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred in communications, English, writing or similar.
  • Experience with grant writing is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong writing, editing and research abilities; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Grants Office in preparing and submitting grant proposals to local, state, federal and private funders.
  • Monitor and track submitted, pending and ongoing proposals; identify future opportunities.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify funding opportunities aligned with the College.
  • Write grant proposals for federal, state, foundations and other funders.
  • Prepare proposals by gathering information, drafting, and obtaining approvals.
  • Maintain records of past, current and future grant proposals.
  • Coordinate with College departments to gather accurate correspondence and reports.
  • Ensure proper electronic and hard copy record keeping of grants and related documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
