Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division's Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Chicago is seeking a part-time General Music Instructor to lead introductory group music classes for ages 6–14. The role includes curriculum development, assessments, and collaboration with community partners to expand music programs.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Music, have 3+ years of teaching experience, and can design engaging lessons using Kodaly/Orff-inspired approaches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Music or equivalent qualified performance experience
• Three years teaching experience, five years preferred
• Experience in curriculum development and program planning

Responsibilities

• Teach group music lessons for after-school and summer programs
• Design and implement curriculum, assessments, and lesson plans
• Develop collaborative partnerships for music programming with schools and organizations
• Lead recruitment and outreach efforts for the Fine Arts program
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and participate in program development
• Teach additional classes/workshops as needed
