Job summary

Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans, TX is seeking a Part-Time Funeral Assistant / Attendant to support funeral directors and assist with services, transport, and administrative tasks. The role requires a high school diploma, basic computer and MS Office skills, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift heavy loads. Weekend/evening hours may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to use a computer and type.
• Proficient in MS Office suite and willing to learn other software.
• Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Able to work and communicate effectively with others.
• Able to maintain composure in challenging situations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and pull/push 200 lbs or more of removals if required.
• Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist with removals of decedents (varies by location).
• Assist with preparing, dressing, and placing decedents into casket.
• Prepare for services by delivering and setting up floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, photos, and keepsakes; ensure proper care and storage.
• Prepare documents related to services, cremations, and maintenance as directed.
• Perform office duties such as answering phones and operating office equipment.
• Run errands such as floral deliveries and supply pick-ups.
• Serve as an usher, assist with parking, and fulfill transportation requirements.
• Drive company vehicles for services and family transportation.
• Assist with visitations, memorials, and funeral services.
• Greets and assists client families and visitors with information and support.
• Accommodate family needs during services and visitations.
• Wash and clean funeral home vehicles when required.
