Job summary

The Walker Art Center is seeking a part-time, non-exempt Front-of-House Assistant to support Moving Image and Performing Arts programming in Minneapolis. You will welcome guests, seat audiences, monitor spaces, and provide general visitor support during events such as the British Arrows Awards and Film Independent Spirit Awards.

Orientation is scheduled for October 7, 2026, and candidates must be available that day.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, guest relations, tourism, or box office operations preferred.
• Strong communication skills and a calm, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to multitask and remain attentive in crowds with noise levels.
• Flexible and willing to move between areas and perform different tasks as needed.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of personalities across cultures, generations, and abilities.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including at least one weekend shift per week.

Responsibilities

• Attend pre-show Front-of-House meetings and trainings.
• Remain at the assigned post throughout the event.
• Scan tickets, distribute programs, and assist patrons with seating.
• Enforce house rules in event venues.
• Apply safety and security procedures in a calm, productive manner.
• Perform light cleaning between programs in cinema and theater.
• Use radios to communicate with Event Manager and Ushers.
• Monitor patrons for safety, accessibility, and comfort.
• Address guest questions and feedback with excellent service.
• Share knowledge about Walker programs, events, and facilities with visitors.
• Collaborate with Event Manager as needed.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
