Job summary

Moana Nursery is hiring a part-time Stem Studio Floral Assistant to help keep the studio fresh, stocked and inviting. You will assist customers in selecting stems, provide basic care guidance and support floral production under supervision.

The role requires basic floral knowledge, a friendly disposition and the ability to upsell finishing touches. You will work 24–32 hours weekly, including Sundays/Thursdays, with pay in the $16–$18/hour range.

• Basic understanding of fresh-flower care and conditioning.

• Understanding that professional floral assistance has value and must be charged appropriately.
• Ability to explain and apply Finishing Touches service charges.
• Ability to follow recipes, production goals and product standards.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, flower quality, organization and presentation.
• Ability to work independently while following priorities.
• Balance customer service, production, flower care and cleaning responsibilities.
• Dependable, punctual and prepared to work at the beginning of every shift.
• Availability to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends and peak floral holidays.

Responsibilities

• Upholds Moana Nursery’s safety policies and sanitation standards.
• Maintain Stem Studio fresh, full, clean, organized for customers.
• Open Stem Studio each morning.
• Move flowers to Stem Studio from the floral cooler.
• Return flowers to the cooler at day end.
• Keep flower buckets clean, water-filled, labeled and priced.
• Monitor freshness, hydration, presentation and quality.
• Refresh or report flowers not meeting quality standards.
• Rotate flowers and reduce waste by prioritizing older inventory.
• Keep Stem Studio displays full and well-priced.
• Restock wrapping paper, tissue, ribbon, sleeves and card stock.
• Produce 8–12 wraps daily and 15 small arrangements on Sundays/Thursdays.
• Explain Finishing Touches charges before evolving design tasks.
• Charge appropriately for hands-on floral assistance.
• Assist with basic arrangements and wraps as needed.
• Help professional florists prepare flowers, vases and mechanics.
• Support during busy periods and events.
