Knoxville Montessori School is seeking a dependable, nurturing, and adaptable Part-Time Floater / Flex Staff Member to support our teaching teams three days each week. This position plays an important role in maintaining consistent classroom routines and ensuring students receive attentive, high-quality care and supervision.

The Flex Staff Member assists in classrooms across the school, provides coverage for staff absences and breaks, and helps meet the changing needs of our students and teachers throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide classroom support and coverage across different age groups, from toddlers through high school.
• Follow classroom routines, lesson plans, and guidance provided by lead teachers.
• Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, lunch, rest time, and daily transitions.
• Maintain a safe, calm, respectful, and engaging learning environment.
• Support children's independence and social-emotional development using respectful, developmentally appropriate language.
• Adapt to changing classroom assignments and school needs with a positive, flexible attitude.
• Assist with classroom preparation, organization, and daily responsibilities as needed.
• Follow school policies, safety procedures, and applicable licensing requirements.
• Participate in required training and professional development, including First Aid/CPR as applicable.
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to support the smooth operation of the school.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred.
• Interest in child development and the Montessori philosophy.
• Dependable, punctual, organized, and comfortable taking initiative.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow direction, receive feedback, and work with a variety of teaching styles and age groups.
• Comfortable spending time outdoors and participating in children's daily activities.
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
