Montessori Torah Academy is seeking a Montessori Floater to support the lead teacher in a welcoming, student-centered classroom for ages 2-12. The role involves assisting with setup, behavior guidance, and fostering independent, collaborative learning.

Ideal candidates will have at least 2 years in a classroom setting, a High School Diploma, and 6 ECE units, with Montessori knowledge or willingness to learn. Schedule is Mon-Fri in a full-time/part-time arrangement for the 2026-2027 year.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in preparing and maintaining a clean, organized, engaging learning environment.
  • Assist Lead teacher with behavior management to promote classroom norms.
  • Support each child's social, mental, physical and emotional development.
  • Maintain positive relationships with parents and staff.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Provide coverage for infant/toddler and preschool classrooms when needed.
  • Be flexible, manage time well, and fill in where needed.
  • Supervise children during activities, meals, naptime, and outdoor play.
  • Support Lead teacher during group activities and discussions.

Montessori Torah Academy is a private, independent Jewish Montessori school serving students ages 2-12 years of age. Our dedicated staff and supportive environment nurtures independent, joyful, lifelong learners.

Job Title: Montessori Floater

Montessori Torah Academy floater aids the lead teacher in establishing a welcoming classroom where each child feels cared for and respected. The learning environment is student-centered and self-paced, allowing children to explore their own interests while mastering skills and knowledge. Our Montessori program lays the groundwork for academic success by emphasizing critical thinking, problem-solving, independent focus and working in collaboration with others.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Aid in the preparation and maintain a learning environment that is clean, organized, and enticing for young learners.
  • Use behavior management techniques along with Lead teacher to promote classroom normalization.
  • Support each child’s full development socially, mentally, physically and emotionally.
  • Maintain positive relationships and communications with parents and peers.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Provide break/absence coverage for staff members working in the infant/toddler and preschool classrooms (coverage will be for Lead Teachers and Assistants).
  • Must be flexible, have good time management skills, and be able to fill in where needed.
  • Supervises children in educational activities occurring in the classroom, as well as during snacks and meals, naptime, outdoor play, and transition between activities.
  • Supports Lead teacher during group activities and discussions.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • A minimum of 6 ECE units in early education or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a classroom setting.
  • Knowledge of Montessori core principles and materials or willingness to learn.
About the Position

Benefits: Paid Time Off

Pay: It is based upon candidate experience and qualifications.

Employment Type: Full-time/Part Time

Schedule: Monday-Friday
