Job summary

TERI Inc.'s Center for the Arts in Oceanside, CA is seeking a Part-time Direct Support Professional to join a creativity-focused environment supporting adults with developmental disabilities through art, music, and life skills. You will work 3-hour to 4-hour shifts, 9am-12pm, 10am-1pm, 11am-2pm, or 12pm-3pm, Monday-Friday, with pay at $23.00 per hour.

This role emphasizes independence, safety, and compassionate care, including activities of daily living and medication assistance as needed.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination with special needs and experience working with adults in vocational or volunteer settings.

Responsibilities

Support 3–4 individuals in a group setting through daily activities and creative programs.
Engage clients in exercise, art, music, and more to keep daily routines meaningful and fun.
Assist with activities of daily living at the appropriate level.
Help with daily living tasks such as personal hygiene, toileting, and occasional feeding.
Foster independence by offering choices and supporting clients throughout the day.
Deliver and monitor individual program plans and behavior support plans.
Assist with interventions to protect individuals and those around them.
Administer medications and basic first aid as needed.
Ensure safety and well-being in response to challenging behaviors or medical needs.

As a Direct Support Professional at TERI’s Center for the Arts, you’ll work directly with adults with developmental disabilities in a creativity-focused environment. You’ll assist participants with hands-on art projects, music and movement activities, and life skills development. Your support will help individuals express themselves, build confidence, and enjoy meaningful, fulfilling experiences every day.

Role & Responsibilities –

Support 3–4 individuals in a group setting through daily activities and creative programs
Make every day meaningful and fun by engaging clients in exercise, art, music, and more
Support individuals with activities of daily living at the appropriate level
Assist with daily living tasks such as personal hygiene, toileting, and occasional feeding
Foster independence and empower clients by offering choices throughout the day
Deliver individual program plans/goals and behavior support plans
Assist with interventions designed to protect individuals who engage in severe problem behavior and those around them.
Administer medications and basic first aid as needed
Ensure safety and well-being by responding appropriately to challenging behaviors or medical needs

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Minimum of 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination in with special needs and experience working with adults in vocational or volunteer settings.
