Job summary
Madison Fire Department is seeking a part-time Fire Inspector in the Fire Prevention Bureau. The role involves conducting comprehensive fire inspections of commercial, residential, and specified premises, identifying and eliminating fire hazards, and strictly enforcing the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, at least three years of verifiable code enforcement or related fire service experience, a valid New Jersey Fire Inspector Certification,
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three years of verifiable code enforcement or related fire service experience.
- New Jersey Fire Inspector Certification issued by the NJ Department of Community Affairs.
- Valid New Jersey Driver's License.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive fire inspections of commercial, residential, and specified premises to identify and eliminate fire hazards.
- Strictly enforce the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code (NJUFVC).
- Proactively educate the public on local fire safety practices.
- Conduct initial and follow-up compliance inspections; report writing; code enforcement.
- Collaborate with other municipal departments and the public.
