Job summary

Madison Fire Department is seeking a part-time Fire Inspector in the Fire Prevention Bureau. The role involves conducting comprehensive fire inspections of commercial, residential, and specified premises, identifying and eliminating fire hazards, and strictly enforcing the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, at least three years of verifiable code enforcement or related fire service experience, a valid New Jersey Fire Inspector Certification,

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of verifiable code enforcement or related fire service experience.
• New Jersey Fire Inspector Certification issued by the NJ Department of Community Affairs.
• Valid New Jersey Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive fire inspections of commercial, residential, and specified premises to identify and eliminate fire hazards.
• Strictly enforce the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code (NJUFVC).
• Proactively educate the public on local fire safety practices.
• Conduct initial and follow-up compliance inspections; report writing; code enforcement.
• Collaborate with other municipal departments and the public.

Part Time Fire Inspector

The Borough of Madison is accepting applications for a part-time Fire Inspector in the Madison Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, conducting comprehensive fire inspections of commercial, residential, and specified premises to identify and eliminate fire hazards, strictly enforcing the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code (NJUFV), and proactively educate the public on local fire safety practices; conduct initial and follow-up compliance inspections; report write writing; code enforcement, and seamless collaboration with other municipal departments and the public. The ideal applicant will be available and willing to work a flexible schedule of a minimum of ten (10) hours per week. Applicants should have excellent computer skills, including experience with Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook, strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal Bilingual is a plus. The hourly salary is $30.00. This position does not include benefits, except those provided under the New Jersey Sick Leave legislation. A high school diploma or GED is required; a minimum of three (3) years of verifiable code enforcement or related fire service experience; a valid New jersey Fire Inspector Certification issued by the NJ Department of Community Affairs, and a valid New Jersey Driver's License.
