Job Description
Dairy One Cooperative is seeking a Dairy Herd Improvement (DHI) Technician to join our growing team. The DHI Tech is responsible for providing critical data to help farms make decisions and achieve their goals (production & profit) by providing them with timely, accurate, and meaningful data. You will be on-site at your dairy farm customers to perform data collection and provide information and guidance to support better herd management decisions.
This territory covers the Franklin County/Orleans County area of VT, and you may live anywhere within a reasonable distance of the territory. This role offers considerable autonomy, though evening and weekend work may be required. No overnight travel is necessary. Each farm varies in size, setup, milking schedule, services required, and distance from your home. Your days will become predictable within your circuit and market, although there is no such thing as a “typical day”.
Our ideal candidate has a passion for working in the livestock industry and a strong attention to detail. Candidates from various backgrounds such as genetics, feed, cattle, herd health, or related farming experience are encouraged to apply. Job satisfaction comes from building relationships with farmers in your assigned circuit as well as with new farms.
