The Agricultural Institute of Marin is seeking a part-time Assistant Farmers Market Manager for our year-round farmers market in Hayward, CA. This entry-level role offers a career pathway in market operations, agricultural education, or local food systems strategies.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years old with a valid California driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. and load/unload equipment.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Able to multitask, stay calm under pressure, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated, positive, dependable, and a team player with excellent attendance.
• Interest in food, agriculture, and local farming.
• Available to work early mornings and extended hours on Saturdays.
• Highly preferred: bilingual Spanish or Chinese speaking.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Market Manager with market setup, operations, and site security.
• Set up and break down market equipment, signage, information booth, restrooms, entertainment areas, and waste disposal stations.
• Staff the information booth, provide excellent customer service, and process customer transactions.
• Operate the EBT program by processing EBT transactions and distributing tokens to purchase healthy foods.
• Maintain positive relationships with market participants, customers, staff, community organizations, businesses, and government partners.
