  • Able to multitask, stay calm under pressure, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, positive, dependable, and a team player with excellent attendance.
  • Interest in food, agriculture, and local farming.
  • Available to work early mornings and extended hours on Saturdays.
  • Highly preferred: bilingual Spanish or Chinese speaking.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Market Manager with market setup, operations, and site security.
  • Set up and break down market equipment, signage, information booth, restrooms, entertainment areas, and waste disposal stations.
  • Staff the information booth, provide excellent customer service, and process customer transactions.
  • Operate the EBT program by processing EBT transactions and distributing tokens to purchase healthy foods.
  • Maintain positive relationships with market participants, customers, staff, community organizations, businesses, and government partners.

The Agricultural Institute of Marin is seeking a dedicated part-time Assistant Farmers Market Manager for our year- round farmers market that occurs e very Saturday in Hayward. T his is an entry -level position with potential for a career pathway in farmers markets operations, agricultural education, or local food systems strategies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Market Manager with market setup, operations, and site security
  • Set up and break down market equipment, signage, information booth, restrooms, entertainment areas, and waste disposal stations
  • Staff the information booth, provide excellent customer service, and process customer transactions
  • Operate the EBT program by processing EBT transactions and distributing tokens to purchase healthy foods
  • Maintain positive relationships with market participants, customers, staff, community organizations, businesses, and government partners

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/DEMANDS
  • Regularly lifts and moves 50+ lbs. While setting up, operating, and breaking down market equipment, loading/unloading equipment, setting up booth and cafe areas, handling waste and recycling, maintaining clean and sanitary conditions, and standing, walking, bending, twisting, and sitting for extended periods in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
