Ecology Center seeks a part-time Farmers Market Program Associate to support operations at Berkeley Markets. The role involves cashiering, customer service, setup and breakdown, and office tasks under the Farmers Market Program Manager.

Hours are evenings and Saturdays, with a union-based agreement and on-site duties in Berkeley. Strong organizational skills and reliability are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and one year of prior work experience.
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
• Ability to manage on-site operations for farmers' market or similar small business.
• Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheets; willingness to learn.
• Ability to build relationships with participants including farmers, vendors, customers.

Responsibilities

• Operate Ecology Center programs including Farmers' Markets per goals and strategies.
• Assist in market setup/breakdown, vendor parking, signage, tokens, info booth, and staff coordination.
• Provide excellent customer service and token distribution at markets.
• Perform post-market tasks including recycling/compost, cleaning, and equipment care.
• Handle cash per procedures; assist deposits and cash drawer for next use.
• Track market activity and financials using logbooks and receipts.
