Job summary

Legacy Treatment Services is seeking a Part-time Family Support Specialist in New Jersey to provide peer counseling and advocacy for families of clients in Burlington/Camden counties. The role involves support during screening, waiting for inpatient placement, and linkage to outpatient services.

It requires a high school diploma, lived-family experience, and future certifications in the field. Responsibilities include engaging families, connecting them to psychoeducation and resources, building

Qualifications

• Must have lived experience as a family member of someone with mental health challenges and/or substance use concerns.
• Must have knowledge of the mental health system.
• Expected to obtain certification as Family Support Partner (FSP), CFRP or CFPS.
• Must have experience of having a child or family member with mental health challenges and/or substance use concerns.

Responsibilities

• Engage and collaborate with families during the screening process and advocate to ensure their input is heard.
• Identify and connect families to resources and services related to psychoeducation, substance use and self-care.
• Assist families to build a network of natural and community supports.
• Utilize lived-experience to provide peer-to-peer support, modeling and coaching during interactions.

Education
