Job summary

Barstow Community College is seeking part-time nursing instructors to join a continuous pool for assignments at the main campus, online, and at Fort Irwin off-campus sites. Assignments are as needed and at the discretion of the department.

Applicants must hold an unrestricted California RN or Vocational Nursing license and meet degree/experience requirements. These positions provide substitute, temporary, or hourly teaching opportunities across nursing courses, with transcripts required on offer.

Qualifications

• Two years of nursing experience (RN, LVN).
• One year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing or 24 hours CE in planning/evaluating educational programs in nursing (completed within six months of employment).
• Unrestricted California RN or Vocational Nursing License.

Job description

This is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill part-time (up to 67%), substitute, temporary, or hourly assignments on an as needed basis. Part-Time faculty applications will remain in the pool for one year. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview.

Departments will refer to the pool of applications on file, as needed, to fill temporary assignments. This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies.

ASSIGNMENT

Applications for Part-Time Instructors are always being accepted for assignments at the main campus as well as teaching online and at off-campus sites located at Fort Irwin. Assignments are at the discretion of the District.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• 1. Any bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years of related professional experience required. OR Any associate's degree plus six (6) years of related professional experience.
• 2. An unrestricted valid California Registered Nursing License or a valid unrestricted California Vocational Nursing License.
• 3. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse, academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Experience must include

• Two (2) years of nursing experience (RN, LVN).
• One (1) of the two years must be as a licensed nurse providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting.

AND one of the following:

• One (1) year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing.
• Twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing (submit course certificate or transcript) completed within six (6) months of employment and prior to teaching a certification program. Courses must be approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or administered by an accredited educational institution.
