Job summary

Barstow Community College is continuously recruiting part‑time instructors to fill a pool for assignments at the main campus, online, and off‑campus sites such as Fort Irwin. These positions are temporary, substitute, or hourly, with the pool lasting up to one year.

Job description

This is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill part‑time (up to 67%), substitute, temporary, or hourly assignments on an as needed basis. Part‑Time faculty applications will remain in the pool for one year. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. Departments will refer to the pool of applications on file, as needed, to fill temporary assignments. This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies.

ASSIGNMENT

Applications for Part‑Time Instructors are always being accepted for assignments at the main campus as well as teaching on‑line and at off‑campus sites located at Fort Irwin. Assignments are at the discretion of the District.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse, academic, socio‑economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
• Master’s in fine arts, art, or art history OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in humanities OR the equivalent

(NOTE: “Master’s in fine arts” as used here refers to any master’s degree in the subject matter of fine arts, which is defined to include visual studio arts such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, and metal and jewelry art; and also, art education and art therapy. It does not refer to the “Master of Fine Arts” (MFA) degree when that degree is based on specialization in performing arts or dance, film, creative writing or other non plastic arts.)

Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated proficiency in teaching at the community college level.
