Job description

Position Overview

Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part‑Time Faculty assignments in the Veterinary Technology Department at the Rock Creek Campus. The department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new faculty. This is not an announcement of a specific open position but a Part‑Time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year. Applicants may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full‑term class assignments.

Location & Residency

PCC currently limits employment to individuals residing in Oregon or Washington. Employment offers are contingent upon the ability to establish residence in either state. Course Eligibility

Applicants will be asked to list the current PCC courses they would be able to teach. Learn more about our program at https://www.pcc.edu/programs/vet-tech/ and review the PCC Course Catalog for this subject area.

Instructor Qualifications

• Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree or the equivalent in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited institution.
• Five (5) years experience working in a veterinary hospital, clinic, research facility, or the equivalent.
• State of Oregon certification as a licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT) or license‑eligible with license acquired prior to initial teaching assignment.
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and veterinary licensure in status of Oregon by the Oregon Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, or license‑eligible with license acquired prior to initial teaching assignment.

Compensation and Benefits

Newly hired part‑time faculty generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determined based upon the type of course taught (lecture, lab, or lecture/lab).
