Overview

Portland Community College is accepting applications to join the Part‑time Faculty Interest Pool in Small Business Development. The pool will be used to identify applicants for substitute and full‑term class assignments during the Academic Year. This is not a specific position posting but a mechanism to match qualified candidates with course needs as they arise.

Responsibilities

• Teach small‑business development courses at the undergraduate level.
• Provide substitute instruction as needed.
• Prepare and deliver engaging, student‑centered lessons that incorporate current industry practices.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and course materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field; Master’s preferred.
• At least five years of small‑business management experience, including previous ownership or top management roles.
• Experience in marketing, financing, and the use of financial statements and tax documentation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent record‑keeping practices.
• Familiarity with business software (word processing, spreadsheets, database, and accounting tools such as QuickBooks).
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with entrepreneurs, business owners, and network partners.

Compensation and Benefits

Hours and rates will be based on the course type and will commence at Step1 of the current salary schedule. Eligible part‑time faculty may access Oregon Sick Leave, retirement savings plans, and other benefits through PCC. Detailed benefit information is available on the PCC HR website.
