Job description

Position Overview

Portland Community College is accepting applications for part‑time faculty positions in Business Administration across a range of subjects including Marketing, Management, Supply Chain, Project Management, Small Business Management, and Entrepreneurship. Faculty will be expected to teach courses either face‑to‑face on one of the main campuses – Sylvania, Rock Creek, Southeast, or Cascade – or online. This posting is a part‑time faculty interest pool; specific course assignments will be identified during the academic year.

Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses in the Business Administration program using lecture, discussion, and online methods.
  • Prepare and deliver course materials, assessments, and provide timely feedback to students.
  • Maintain a professional, inclusive learning environment and meet the College’s academic standards.
Instructor Qualifications – General Requirements
  • Master’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics or related field (unless otherwise specified for a particular course).
  • Five years of full‑time equivalent non‑teaching work experience in the subject area.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
Instructor Qualifications – Specific Course Requirements
  • BA150: Intro to Entrepreneurship – Master’s in business; or Bachelor’s degree + five years of business ownership experience.
  • BA250: Small Business Management – Master’s in business; or Bachelor’s degree + five years of business ownership experience.
  • BA203: Intro to International Business, BA234: International Marketing – Master’s in business; minimum three years of international business experience preferred.
  • BA224: Human Resource Management – Master’s in business; or Bachelor’s degree + five years of full‑time equivalent non‑teaching work plus SHRM certification required.
  • BA226 & BA227: Business Law I & II – Law degree (JD) preferred; or JD + five years of full‑time equivalent non‑teaching work. Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • BA235: Social Media Marketing – Master’s in business; or Bachelor’s degree + five years of demonstrated social media marketing experience.
  • BA255: Project Management – Business Environments – Master’s in business; five years of project management experience. PMP preferred.

  • Hourly wages determined by Step1 of the current salary schedule, based on course type (lecture, lab, or lecture/lab).
