Job description

Position

Part‑time faculty assignment in Physical Education and Dance at Portland Community College.

Students may be considered for substitute and full‑term class assignments during the academic year.

Eligibility

Must be able to establish residence in Oregon or Washington. Reasonable accommodations are provided.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of higher education teaching experience.
• Willing to teach across all four PCC campuses.
• Master’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Sports Psychology, Sports Fitness, Human Performance, Kinesiology, Outdoor Recreation Leadership, Human Physiology, or Dance with 3 years of college/high‑school teaching experience.
• Master’s degree plus a Bachelor’s in the above majors with 3 years of college/high‑school teaching experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in the above majors with 3 years of college/high‑school teaching experience.
• Recent experience teaching at the college level or adults of varying skill levels preferred.
• For candidates not meeting the above, national certifications in the specialty area and teaching experience are preferred.
• Full‑time and part‑time faculty must secure CPR, AED, or equivalent certifications before the first day of class.
• Official transcripts required within 2 weeks of offer date.
• Employment offers contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.

Compensation

Newly hired part‑time faculty generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determined based on the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab). Salary schedule available at https://www.pcc.edu/hr/compensation/.
