Job description

Part‑Time Nursing Faculty – Interest Pool (Sylvania Campus)

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking faculty to support Nursing clinical and skills lab instruction. The pool allows assignment to substitute, short‑term or full‑term courses during the 2018‑19 academic year. Applicants may be considered for assignments in either the Clinical or Skills Lab area.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Instructor: Supervise, instruct, and evaluate nursing students during clinical rotations. Assigned to a clinical site for up to 2 days/evenings per week/term, supervising 6–8 students at a time. Coordinate with the nursing faculty team coordinator under the supervision of the Nursing Program director.
  • Skills Lab Instructor: Instruct and evaluate students in the on‑campus skills lab. Instructor‑student ratio is 1:6, with 2–3 instructors per lab session. Communicate primarily with the skills lab team coordinator and report to the Nursing Program director.
Qualifications
  • Credentialed with a Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree in nursing (the majority of part‑time faculty hold a Master’s degree, as required by ACEN Standard2).
  • At least two years of nursing experience.
  • Current, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Oregon.
  • Credible academic transcripts from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or an equivalent foreign institution (evaluation of foreign credentials through a NACES‑approved agency).
  • Knowledge of and compliance with Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing standards and Oregon State Board of Nursing Division21 standards for nursing faculty.
