Job summary

Portland Community College is looking for part-time instructors for its Medical Professions program. Applicants must have relevant degrees and experience in healthcare education. The Medical Professions (MP) program at Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking in‑person part‑time instructors. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your expertise of the healthcare industry to support a diverse body of students. Medical Professions hosts courses at Cascade, Sylvania, Willow Creek, Hillsboro Center, and Southeast Campuses. This position may involve travel between sites.

Instructor Qualifications
MP 108: Healthcare Career Essentials
  • Bachelor’s degree in a medical, allied health, or applied behavioral science
  • Knowledge of career opportunities and requirements in the health field
  • Three (3) years experience in a healthcare facility or organization
MP 111: Medical Terminology
  • Bachelor’s degree in a medical or allied health discipline
  • Three (3) years experience in a healthcare facility or organization
MP 113: Healthcare Provider CPR/AED, First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Degree or certificate from a nationally accredited or state‑approved program in the field of EMT, Paramedic, Nursing, or other healthcare discipline
  • Required American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Instructor certification
  • Completion of AHA Bloodborne Pathogens Training
  • Completion of AHA First Aid Training
  • Completion of AHA BLS Provider Training
  • Three (3) years experience in a healthcare facility or organization
MP 135: Pharmacology for Allied Health
  • Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmacology, or other healthcare discipline
  • Three (3) years experience in a healthcare facility or organization
MP 140: Intro to Health Law and Ethics
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a medical or allied health field or a law degree (Juris Doctor)
  • Three (3) years experience in a healthcare facility or organization

These positions are included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Faculty Federation Employees.

Part‑time Faculty Compensation at PCC

Newly hired Part‑time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule.

Hourly rates are determined based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).

The ASR also contains crime statistics for Clery Act crimes which occurred on PCC properties for the last three calendar years.
