Job description

Part-Time Faculty – Building Construction Technology Program

Portland Community College (PCC) is accepting applications to be considered for part-time faculty assignments in the Building Construction Technology Program at the Rock Creek Campus. This interest pool may lead to substitute or full-term class assignments throughout the academic year.

Eligibility

Applicants must be residents of Oregon or Washington at the time of hire, and must be able to establish residency in either state.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Civil or Structural Engineering, or another construction-related field, plus a minimum of 3 years of recent full-time experience in residential or light commercial construction (or equivalent teaching/industry training experience, one year per year of experience).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Civil or Structural Engineering, or another construction-related field, plus a minimum of 4 years of recent full-time experience in residential or light commercial construction (or equivalent teaching/industry training experience, one year per year of experience).
  • Associates’ degree in a construction-related field, or a Journey Person card, plus a minimum of 5 years of recent full-time experience in residential or light commercial construction (or equivalent teaching/industry training experience, one year per year of experience).
Academic Credentials

Official transcripts must be submitted within two weeks of the offer date for the required degrees. All credentials must come from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or an international institution with equivalent accreditation. Foreign transcripts will be evaluated by agencies recognized by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Compensation and Benefits

Newly hired part-time faculty generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determined based on the type of course taught (lecture, lab, or lecture/lab).

Eligible part-time faculty may enroll in Oregon sick leave and retirement savings plans. More details are available at pcc.edu/hr/benefits.
