Position Overview

Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part‑Time Faculty assignments in the Developmental Education program. This is a Part‑Time Faculty Interest Pool. The department will review applications as needs arise for new part‑time faculty in this area, including substitute and full‑term class assignments.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in an appropriate educational field (for example, special/ developmental/ adult education, reading, writing, math, or English) and Experience working with underprepared students (DE Math or English)
• Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate educational field (for example, special/ developmental/ adult education, reading, writing, or English) and Three years equivalent full‑time teaching experience in reading, writing, or English within grade 9 through adult (DE English)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Math Education, or an appropriate educational field (for example, special/ developmental/ adult education) with a math emphasis and Three years equivalent full‑time teaching experience in mathematics within grade 6 through adult (DE Math)

Compensation and Benefits

New Part‑Time Faculty will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determined based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
