Imperial Valley College seeks part‑time Building and Construction faculty to support the college’s instructional program at 380 East Aten Road, Imperial, CA. This pool position is intended for individuals willing to teach in a continuing applicant pool for relevant courses under the Economic & Workforce Development division.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in building construction technology OR engineering technology in a directly related area to building construction technology, AND at least two (2) years of direct work experience as a building construction technology specialist in residential and light commercial construction.
  • Associate's degree in construction technology AND six (6) years of direct experience as a building construction technology specialist in residential and light commercial construction.
  • A combination of education and experience that is at least equivalent to the above. (Applicants may complete the equivalency questionnaire and attach supporting documentation).
  • AND Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socio‑economic, cultural backgrounds of community college students (AB 1725, 87360a).

  • Assignments are based upon availability of classes, seniority, and qualifications including class preparation, student evaluation, course syllabus, and student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain and submit accurate records according to deadlines (grades, syllabi, attendance reports).
  • Maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the position.
  • Advise students on academic matters.
  • Maintain competency in the field.

Representative Duties

BASIC FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the appropriate Dean, this position is a part‑time temporary instructional faculty assignment. This role is best suited for an exceptionally motivated candidate who demonstrates genuine interest in engaging with a diverse student body and possesses a deep‑stated passion for fostering academic growth and knowledge. Your commitment to creating an environment that actively promotes diversity and inclusion will be a fundamental cornerstone in this role. This position provides a unique chance to leave a lasting impact on our diverse academic community.



REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES


  • Provide instruction in accordance with approved Imperial Valley College curriculum and established course outlines and as assigned based on the needs of the college.

  • Assignments are based upon availability of classes, seniority, and qualifications not limited to conducting classes, class preparation, student evaluation, course syllabus, assessing and evaluating student learning outcomes, and other related duties.

  • Maintain and submit accurate records according to published deadlines (i.e., grades, syllabi, attendance reports).

  • Responsibilities also include maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.

  • Advise students on academic matters.

  • Maintain competency in the field.



Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's in building construction technology OR engineering technology in a directly related area to building construction technology, AND at least two (2) years of direct work experience as a building construction technology specialist in residential and light commercial construction;

  • OR

  • Associate's degree in construction technology AND six (6) years of direct experience as a building construction technology specialist in residential and light commercial construction;

  • OR

  • A combination of education and experience that is at least equivalent to the above. (Applicants requesting equivalency must complete the equivalency questionnaire and attach to online application along with supporting documentation).

  • AND Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socio‑economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (AB 1725, 87360a).
