Job summary

The City of Grove City is seeking a part-time Facility Housekeeper to maintain cleanliness of City-owned buildings and venues under the supervision of the Facilities Housekeeping Coordinator. The ideal candidate must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or GED, have a valid Ohio driver’s license, and be able to provide proof of insurance under the City’s policy.

A minimum of 1–3 years in custodial or related roles is preferred; drug-free workplace with post-offer testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic cleaning procedures including trash removal, waste receptacles cleaning, window washing, furniture cleaning, dust mopping, mopping, vacuuming, restroom sanitation, and restocking supplies.
• Coordinate with the agency for major carpet cleaning or facilities maintenance.
• Clean offices, meeting rooms, lobby areas, hallways, break rooms, and stairways.
• Perform deep cleaning such as stripping, sealing, waxing, and buffing vinyl tile surfaces per manufacturers' recommendations.
• Operate power cleaning equipment (vacuum, carpet extractor, floor buffing machine, power washer).
• Move furniture and lift up to 100 pounds with assistance; may perform some light maintenance like changing bulbs or touch-up painting.

The City of Grove City is currently seeking a part-time Facility Housekeeper to join our team. The Facility Housekeeper, under the supervision of the Facilities Housekeeping Coordinator, ensures the cleanliness of various City-owned buildings and venues.

The ideal candidate must:

• Be at least 18 years of age and have completed secondary education (high school diploma or GED).
• Possess a valid Ohio driver's license and must be able to qualify for and remain insurable under the City's vehicle insurance policy.
• Demonstrate good verbal communication skills and be able to interact professionally with City officials and members of the public.
• Have any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to 1-3 years in Facility Services, custodial, or janitorial roles.
• The City of Grove City is a Drug Free Workplace. All candidates who receive an offer of employment will be required to undergo testing for commonly used drugs, including marijuana.

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm; Thursday 6:00 am - 10 am

Salary: $20.00 per hour

The following duties, responsibilities and tasks are performed on a continuing basis, unless otherwise noted:

• Perform basic cleaning procedures including, but not limited to, trash removal, cleaning waste receptacles, wall and interior window washing, furniture cleaning, dust mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and replacing paper supplies.
• Coordinate various professional services, such as major carpet cleaning or facilities maintenance, with the agency via the chain of command.
• Perform cleaning of offices, meeting rooms, lobby areas, hallways, break rooms, and stairways.
• Perform complex cleaning procedures including stripping, sealing, waxing, and buffing vinyl tile surfaces in accordance with the manufacture's recommendations.
• Perform various levels of carpet cleaning in accordance with the manufacture's recommendations.
• Operate power cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaner, carpet extractor, floor buffing machine and power washer.
• Perform minor maintenance duties including replacing light bulbs and touch-up painting.
• Maintain a written inventory of cleaning and paper supplies; submit supply requests in a timely manner.
• Assist in moving furniture, loading and unloading of freight up to 50 pounds alone and 100 pounds assisted.
• Attend work on a regular and predictable basis.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Obey and promptly execute the orders of the Administrative Assistant.

The employee: works with heavy cleaning equipment; works around motorized equipment; is exposed to environmental conditions, exposed to possible injury from extremely noisy conditions above 85 db; exposed to possible injury from hazardous gases, chemicals, flammables, air contaminants; is exposed to wet walking surfaces; works in inclement weather conditions (e.g., snow, sleet, rain, etc.); is exposed to dirt, dust, and odor; works with moving mechanical parts of equipment or machines may occasionally be exposed to other hazardous or physically demanding working conditions experienced by divisional personnel; employee may exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered heavy work.

• Sound knowledge of custodial methods, equipment and materials; Knowledge of inventory control; ability to adjust work hours to accommodate City needs; access to personal transportation; ability to pass background checks; ability to work independently; City/department goals and objectives; City/department policies and procedures; English grammar and spelling; workplace safety; local geographical area.
• General knowledge in computer operation; use of modern office equipment; electronics; motor vehicle operation.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, picture or schedule form; interpret extensive variety of technical material in books, journals, and manuals; problem solving; determine material and equipment needs; complete routine forms; communicate effectively; recognize safety warnings; understand technical manuals and verbal communications; travel to gain access to work site.
