Commonwealth Senior Living at Gloucester House in Gloucester, VA is seeking a part-time Maintenance Assistant to support the Maintenance Director in maintaining the community's physical plant. The position requires at least 3 years in maintenance, English literacy, a HS diploma or GED, and a customer-service oriented approach.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak English.
• Minimum of 3 years in a maintenance related position.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and building and fire safety codes.
• Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain various maintenance tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on grounds and facilities (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, etc.).
• Replace light bulbs and perform housekeeping in high areas.
• Maintain safe operating procedures and fire prevention practices.
• Keep facilities in good repair and safe for residents, staff and visitors.
• Prepare vacant rooms within 72 hours of move-out.
• Inspect and test fire alarm and emergency systems.
• Maintain repair logs and document maintenance activities.
• Provide transportation for residents as needed.
