Qualifications

• Optical knowledge training provided; no prior optical experience required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to explain preliminary examinations clearly to patients.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high quality patient care.
• Maintain a professional atmosphere in the doctor’s office and pretest room.
• Understand ocular terminology and diseases; know ocular abbreviations.
• Explain types of preliminary examinations to patients.
• Complete paperwork and perform testing prior to doctor examination.
• Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
• Perform exam pre-screening.
• Review prescriptions and patient information; identify special needs and consult with staff as needed.
• Ensure proper maintenance of all Doctor’s and pre-test equipment.
