Job summary

Waynflete is seeking an Early Childhood Assistant Extended Day Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This part-time, 15.5-hour-per-week on-site role supports after-school activities and student supervision at the Waynflete School Campus in Portland, ME.

You'll supervise younger students, assist with games, crafts, and STEAM projects, and ensure safety, attendance, and smooth daily operations. DHHS requirements and a collaborative mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience with children in Early Childhood.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate with a diverse team.
• Passion for creating meaningful experiences for kids.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in the Early Childhood classroom.
• Be present for all scheduled days and hours.
• Work at least one First Out (5:30pm) per week.
• Assist with activities such as games, songs, and projects.
• Maintain safety and track attendance.
• Complete prep and end of day cleanup.
• Communicate incidents to the Auxiliary Programs Manager.
• Participate in Full Fun Days.
• Complete DHHS requirements: fingerprinting, MRTQ, vaccination records, safety training, PD hours.
