Job summary

The Minnesota Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) seeks an Executive Director. This part-time role (15-20 hours per week) reports to the MAIS President and may require occasional out-of-state travel.

Ideal candidates have independent school experience and nonprofit operations expertise. Responsibilities include supporting member school heads and affinity groups, leading conference planning, managing operations and budgets, and coordinating advocacy with a legal lobbyist.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in independent schools.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with non-profit operations.

Responsibilities

• Support Member School Heads: plan and attend quarterly HOS meetings and coordinate information flow.
• Support MAIS Affinity Groups: track priorities and report to Heads, invite groups to events.
• Support MAIS TSC: attend meetings and assist with initiatives like Affinity Day.
• Lead Tri-Annual MAIS Conference Planning: oversee themes, speakers, logistics, and budgets.
• Manage Operations: monitor inbox, CRM, budgets, reimbursements, and tech tools.
• Legislative Advocacy & Government Relations: liaise with lobbyist and meet legislators.
• Representation & Professional Development: attend conferences and stay current on issues.
• Strategic Growth: collaborate on fresh ideas for organizational growth.
