Job summary

The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Holiday Lights Attendant in the Communications & Marketing Department. In this role, under the supervision of the Events Specialist, you will monitor Holiday Lights Spectacular operations, open and close the lights nightly, meet greeters and collectors, train volunteers.

You will deposit nightly donations to the police department with police escort.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of simple electrical procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of good safety policies, practices and procedures.
• Ability to explain procedures to volunteers.
• Ability to relate to the public using tact and diplomacy.
• Ability to make decisions using good judgment.

Responsibilities

• Opens gates nightly by 6:00 p.m.
• Makes sure the lights come on at the proper time.
• Checks light displays.
• Notifies Public Works staff for electrical work.
• Gives volunteers general instructions.
• Informs Events Specialist if volunteers do not show.
• Collects donations if necessary.
• Responsible for solving operational issues.
• Routinely drives through lights to ensure they are working.
• Deposits nightly donations in Police Department with escort.
• Reports problems to Events Specialist or Communications & Marketing staff.
• Setup and take down sound systems as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
