Job summary

OneWorld Community Health Centers, Inc. in Omaha, NE, is seeking an ESL Instructor for the Learning Community Center of South Omaha to teach English to parent groups and support their children’s education through long-term engagement.

The role emphasizes collaborative planning with the Center Director, culturally responsive curriculum development, and strategies to boost attendance and active participation in a dynamic classroom setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Bilingual in English and another language preferred; ability to speak basic Spanish preferred.
• Related teaching experience and certification in teaching English as a Second Language required (ESL Endorsement, TESOL/TEFL certificate); Nebraska teaching certificate preferred.
• State of Nebraska teaching certificate with public school teaching experience preferred.
• Ability to accommodate learning needs of diverse populations.
• Outstanding personal/interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience with technology in facilitating instruction.
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach ESL to groups of parents with varying English proficiency.
• Collaborate with the Director to activate long-term strategies for parent involvement in children’s education.
• Provide ESL instruction and encourage learning activities outside the classroom.
• Assess and track language and literacy levels of students.
• Create interactive, culturally sensitive curricula for learners at different levels.
• Promote attendance and punctuality and maintain accurate attendance records, rosters, and data.
