Job summary

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) – Annandale. Classes may be delivered in person, hybrid, or online; adjuncts teach up to 12 credit hours in fall/spring and up to 8 during summer. Teaching load depends on enrollment and staffing needs, with no guaranteed continued employment.

Must reside in the DMV area (DC/VA/MD). This is a pool posting; positions are filled as needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in the teaching field (TESOL / TESL, Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, or equivalent) OR a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in the teaching field. Qualifying degrees must be awarded by a regionally accredited institution.
• For degrees earned outside the United States, attach a course-by-course international credential evaluation from a NACES member.

Responsibilities

• Teach specific ESL classes.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to NOVA policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Maintain current competence in the discipline.
