Job summary

RFCUNY Research Foundation of the City University of New York, Bronx Community College Upward Bound Program, seeks an English teacher for the academic component. The part-time role requires teaching English - Literature and Composition to high school students on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with occasional virtual sessions.

The ideal candidate is DE-certified in English, has several years of experience with high school youths, and understands TRIO programs; two letters of recommendation

Qualifications

• Must be certified by the Department of Education in English.
• Must have several years of experience working with the high school population.
• Must have some knowledge of TRIO programs.
• Must provide 2 letters of recommendation on business letterhead signed.

Responsibilities

• Must submit a syllabus for classroom instruction for approval prior to the start.
• Teach all levels of English - Literature and Composition.
• Prepare and administer Pre and Post tests.
• Evaluate students' academic needs.
• Produce progress reports/transcripts at the end of the academic year for each student.
• Report to the curriculum coordinator/associate director on any concerns or academic need of student.
• Other duties as assigned.
