Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• National and/or State EMT-Basic certification.
• Current CPR certification as established by the American Heart Association.
• Current and valid state-issued driver's license.
• Ability to read, write and communicate professionally with employees and managers.
• Knowledge of company protocols, procedures and safety policies.
• Ability to drive large vehicles in normal and adverse conditions.

Responsibilities

• Conducts careful examination of the patient for signs and symptoms of illness/injury and assists other medical personnel as necessary.
• Administers prompt and efficient basic life support care within licensure/certification and approved protocols.
• Provides careful handling of the patient to and from the ambulance.
• Transports the patient to the medical facility in a safe and efficient manner.
• Transfers patient care information to receiving personnel at the destination.
• Documents patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports and related forms.
• Performs regular unit inventory and equipment testing to ensure equipment is operational.
• Completes duties after transport to return ambulance and equipment to service.
• Maintains knowledge of basic life support equipment and its proper use.
• Reports repairs to maintenance departments and supervisors.
• Precepts new employees and EMT-Basics where designated.
